Mechanical power transmission systems are used for this purpose. It takes motion, torque and power from the prime mover and then transfers to a predetermined position of the machine unit. In addition to transmission, it can also change the direction of rotation and speed to meet the precise requirements of the machine. The mechanical power transmission system consists of four basic transmission devices, namely Gear transmission, chain transmission, belt transmission and rope transmission. For convenience and uninterrupted power transmission, it also requires other mechanical components such as brakes, clutches, shafts, splines, keys, couplings, etc. Each of the four mechanical drives has some advantages over the others and is therefore suitable for specific applications.
